Spring Semester Projects
We selected one scene in Monkey/Journey to the West and found other media adaptations of that scene. We chose to look at the part where the King of Wujin/Crow-cock is trapped in a well by a magician.
THAILAND
Lauren Johnson, Janeve Silva, Nina Vang
We talked about the state of Thailand after WWII, the name controversy of Siam versus Thailand, the color-associated political split, and some recent news.

Final Tea Paper
This paper focuses on a few examples of tea influencing and shaping parts of Chinese and Japanese societies.
Final Reflection
Through taking Asian Conversations this year, I have learned so much more about Asia’s history and culture. During fall semester, we focused on Shanghai’s history over time through various mapping projects and literary sources. We also researched basic linguistics histories and meanings in the Japanese language. During interim I was also able to further develop my Chinese language skills in China. I really enjoyed pushing myself to order food in Chinese and ask strangers for directions. In spring semester, my knowledge of Asia definitely broadened beyond East and Southeast Asia.
